The article is about a ban on surrogacy in Cambodia. Surrogacy has many effects on population statistics of Cambodia. First, the crude birth rate of Cambodia is increased. The CBR increases because despite the children possibly being fathered by a foreigner, the child stills adds to the Crude Birth Rate of Cambodia. The infant mortality rate increases because children under one that are born from surrogates may die and thus add to the IMR. The maternal mortality rate may also increase. The MMR may increase because surrogates may die and therefore lead to an increase in the MMR. In conclusion, several population statistics may be effected by surrogacy.
