The Demographic Transition model is the transition from high birth and death rates to lower birth and death rates. Cambodia is currently in stage 2 of the Demographic transition model. Stage 2 is categorized by a drop in death rates due to advances in medicine and industry while the birth rate stays high like in stage 1. Cambodia is a less developed country according to this model.
The dependency ratio is effected by the Demographic Transition Model of Cambodia. Stage 2 is categorized by a drop in death rates and a high birth rate and because of this the elderly dependency ratio increases because of the higher average life expectancy. Youth dependency ratio will also increase because a decline in death would also effect the infant mortality rate.
